John Rochester built the original log house on this site in the early 1800's. A frame structure was later built around it. Charles E. Bowen, born in 1839, married Lucy Rochester, youngest daughter of John in 1877. The house was occupied by the same family (Rochester, then Bowens) until 1989, upon the death of Mary Louise Bowen. This home has been occupied by the Rochester/Bowen family for 150 years. You will get a sense of the history in the furnishings and paintings as you walk through the house.
